In the article by Richard Frethorne, " Our Plantation is Very Weak: The Experiences of an Indentured Servant in Virginia,1623" the main idea was to discuss how an indentured servant signed a form that discussed working for a couple for up to 3-5 years and they will receive a passageway to North America. Richard Frethorne was not a fan of this idea in fact HE stated that it affected his mental health and made him very weak. In the other article "Is it enough that we are torn from this country and friends" olaudah equiano discusses the horrors of the middle passage.
What he meant by the horrors of the middle passage is that he was a slave who was kidnapped he described what his passage from Barbados to Virginia was like. These two sources relate to the article "City upon a Hill" by Americans being seen differently by others. For example, in the two articles Richard Frethorne and Olaudah Equiano were not treated well in America like how they deserved to be treated. They both had to serve the rich or upper-class Americans while they had to live in horror and also live in terrible conditions.
