Is the threat posed by white-collar crime to other people and society at large as substantial as that posed by other types of crime? Does it matter if there isn't often violence or bodily harm involved? Does it matter that many white-collar crimes are conducted against nameless, governmental or corporate institutions? Does white-collar crime actually affect people, as opposed to only those institutions, as some might claim? 

Should white-collar criminal activity be looked into, accused of, tried for, and punished with the same severity as other types of criminal activity (bearing in mind that all of this costs money—taxpayer money)? Should the severity of penalties for white-collar crimes differ from those for other types of crimes, or be the same?
