LABORATORY ACTIVITY 11 Identification Outcomes After completing this laboratory activity, you will be able to: Identify common fiber-optic connector types. Distinguish between common fiber-optic connectors by physical traits. Introduction This laboratory activity will introduce you to various fiber-optic cable, connectors, and vendors. You will search the Internet for images of common fiber-optic connectors. Once located, you will copy the images, paste them into a word-processing document, and label the image with the appropriate acronym. To copy a web page image, right-click the image and then select Copy from the shortcut menu. To insert the image into a word-processing document, right-click a blank area of the document page and click Paste. When you have finished copying the images specified in the laboratory activity, you will print two copies of the assignment, one for your reference and the other to turn in to your instructor. Some fiber-optic cable manufacturers and distributors include the following: Ortronics, Siemon, Belden, Black Box, Agilent, Fluke, and 3Com. You may wish to visit their websites for information about various fiber-optic cables and connectors.
