NYPD overwhelmingly stopped and still does stop mostly African-Americans and Hispanics in high-crime areas for no reason
Question:
NYPD overwhelmingly stopped and still does stop mostly African-Americans and Hispanics in high-crime areas for no reason and would search them for weapons.
Some who support the stop and frisk policy claim in NYC most of the offenders and victims are African-American and Hispanic and thus justifies the high number of minorities who are stopped. Although many of the detentions were illegal, the police have taken many guns off the street.
Does the ends justify the means, in other words, is it okay to illegally stop people if guns are taken off the street, and why?
Is racial profiling justified if most of the criminal population and victims are minorities, and why?
