Organizational behavior is the study of human behavior in organizational settings, or the interface between human behavior
Question:
“Organizational behavior is the study of human behavior in organizational settings, or the interface between human behavior and the organization, and of the organization itself” (Griffin et al., 2020, p.4). A mutual relationship exists between the success of the organization and the success of the employee. Through systems design, culture, and ethics, business leaders can effectively impact organizational behavior. Conversely, individual employee behavior can produce a ripple effect throughout an organization, creating either positive or negative outcomes.
Please describe and explain the dynamic relationship between organizations and employees. Please refer to the model at the end of the document for an illustration of the relationship components. Focusing on the relationship between the organization perspective and the employee perspective, contributing to a negative dysfunctional employee behavior. Emphasis on critical thinking and analytical skills will serve as the foundation. Requirements emulate the situations managers encounter in the business environment. Incorporate peer-reviewed resource information to provide supporting evidence and information, creating a reliable and logical discussion. Creative and innovative solutions will demonstrate the ability to synthesize concepts into applications.
1. Describe an organization’s strategy, management approach, culture, ethics, attitudes, and values. Use concepts and terminology discussed by Griffin et al. (2020) or information from scholarly resources in the discussion. Describe an organization of current employment, previous employment, or research an organization.
2. Identify and discuss a negative dysfunctional employee behavior occurring in the organization described in part 1. The behavior may occur in a single employee or may be a general behavior occurring throughout the organization. You may include two dysfunctional behaviors if a clear relationship exists, for example, absenteeism and lying.
3. Identify and discuss the individual employee characteristics contributing to the dysfunctional behavior. Consider personal ethics, personality traits, attitudes, values, perceptions, stress levels, and other possible factors. Incorporate organizational behavior terminology and concepts in the discussion.
4. Analyze the relationship between the organization’s characteristics identified in part 1 and the employee’s personal attributes in part 3. Discuss how both entities contribute to the dysfunctional employee behavior. Clearly detail the responsibilities of each entity in the contribution to the dysfunction.
5. Synthesize a solution to minimize or eliminate the dysfunctional behavior, encouraging the employee to engage in a positive functional behavior. Creativity and innovative approaches are acceptable. You are not limited by any constraints of organizational resources, such as money, time, or the expertise of personnel, providing you to adequately justify the effectiveness of the solution.
