Cassandra 1. Differential costs are the costs between two different things, like things that may compete with your interests. These costs occur when you have multiple options to choose from. Fix costs are costs that do not change no matter what. Kind of like other fixed things such as fixed payments. No matter if your job is slow or busy you get paid the same amount. Variable costs are costs that vary between goods and services that a business provides. Differential costs are related to Fix and Variable costs because they can change. An example of differential costs is choosing which chair to get for my baby. You have to put into consideration how it is built, but also how long will the baby be able to use the chair? In most cases, it would be useful to get a chair that is cheaper because your baby will not be able to use the chair for a long amount of time. You also have to consider how much money you have to spend on items like that. I chose the cheaper chair for that reason.
Ajhane 2. Differential cost to me means making a decision to save you money with one thing versus the other thing. An example that I can use from my life is buying a walker for my six months old son. I have the option of going the cheap route because he will not be in the walker long. I also have the option of getting the walker that starts off as a bouncer for my son and turns into a walker. I want him to learn to stand on his own. I can go the cheap route and wait until he learns to keep his legs straight with me. Then again I want him to learn on his own and the more expensive chair will allow that. Yes differential cost can be both. Differential is the difference in either the cheaper or most expensive. Using differential and making the best decision for you personally or professionally can help any person in the decision in a positive way depending on the person making the decision. Professionally at this moment I have not had to make any decision at all.
