Question:
Prior to the Covid-19 epidemic, Master's and Ph.D. programs in psychology required applying students to submit their scores on the standardized graduate admission exam (GRE). For the past three admissions years (2021, 22, 23), many universities have made this test optional. If a student submits the score, it will be considered in their application. If the student does not submit the score, it does not hurt their application. (For all students - transcripts, essays, and letters of recommendation are still required.)
Question: A classmate has asked your advice. The classmate's GRE score was at the tenth percentile for students this year. Should your classmate submit the GRE score in their application to graduate school? Why or why not?
