Question Historically, strategic planning has been big issues in several businesses. Companies have spent a lot over the years on sophisticated, high-brow "strategic" planning. For a long time, consultants were the strategy "high-priests" of business. Until it all fell apart. Many past approaches have now fallen into disfavor, having risen spectacularly and failed even more spectacularly. Strategy failure as considerably substandard business performance relative to major, direct competitor referents. In other words, the strategy is not meeting the firm's performance objectives and performance is far worse relative to competitors, and is thus a failing strategy.
