Read the following case study which describes the data requirement for a magazine distributor company. The magazine distributor company has several branches throughout Malaysia. The data identifying each branch address, telephone number (maximum up to 2 telephone numbers), and fax number. Each branch is given a branch number which is unique throughout the company. Each branch has staff and the data identifying on each staff is the name, position, salary, and the data a staff joined. Each member of staff is given staff number, which is unique throughout the company. The company distributes a variety of magazines, which are identified by the magazine code. Data identifying each magazine are number of issues per year, price of each issue, and nature of language. When a customer orders a magazine, order duration, total payment, and payment method are recorded. Each customer is given a unique number throughout the company. The data accorded to each customer is the name, adders, and contact number. Number of orders from each branch varies each month; therefore, month and year (as single attribute), and number of copies are recorded for each branch one each magazine title. Question 1 (a) Database design consists of three phases which are known as conceptual, logical and physical. Use a diagram to illustrate this database modeling concept. Compare and contrast all the three phases with the use of MAGAZINE DISTRIBUTOR COMPANY as the example. [10 marks] (b) Describe the following with examples when tables are designed and created (use the scenario): [6 marks] i. ii. iii.
