READING THE PARAGRAPH BELOW, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE TOPIC?

Many people believe addiction is a choice, and while it may start that way it never ends that way. Addiction is a choice until your body no long allows it to be a choice because there is a chemical dependency in your brain that is forever altered. Many people never believe they will become an addict so they fail to recognize the signs within themselves allowing that dependency to take over (Rice,2022).

The premise is asking whether addiction is a choice, the conclusion is that when a chemical dependency is involved that choice is taken away. This would fall into the category of a universal affirmative proposition or A, all of the class fits into the other class (Copi et al., 2016). I think this is true because if a person is classified as an addict they no longer have a choice there for the class fits into the category of it is not a choice. If someone was just an occasional drinker/drug user that is when this topic could change categories, not all people who use drugs or alcohol are addicts. This could spiral into a topic of using A, E, I, or O depending on how you present the topic, as the wording on this subject could be present in many ways. People should be held accountable for their actions at times the choice has long been taken away.
