Synthesize a statement of Georgia law regarding suppression of evidence, as applicable to the scenario presented below:
The attorney you work for in Warner Robins, Georgia, has been hired to defend Mr. Steve Carson in the Houston County Superior Court. On September 20, 2019, Mr. Carson was having a yard sale at his home. Among other items, Mr. Carson was selling a treadmill. Mr. Jason French came to Mr. Carson's yard sale and approached Mr. Carson about buying the treadmill. An argument broke out between Mr. Carson and Mr. French over the price of the treadmill. Mr. French became frustrated, decided not to purchase the treadmill and started to walk away from Mr. Carson. Mr. Carson became angry, picked up a pair of skis and began hitting Mr. French with the skis. Mr. French raised his arms in front of his face to protect himself. Mr. Carson continued hitting Mr. French with the skis, breaking Mr. French's right arm. The incident was witnessed by a neighbor and several other people at the yard sale. The neighbor called 911. Mr. Carson was immediately arrested.
Mr. French was taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a broken arm, a concussion, and several contusions. Mr. French had to have surgery on his arm and has undergone six months of physical therapy.
Before he was arrested, Mr. Carson told everyone to leave and that the yard sale was over. Mr. Carson then placed several items in his garage including the skis. Later that evening, Mr. Carson's son moved all of the yard sale items to a storage pod that was later placed at the local storage facility. When the police found out the skis had been moved they immediately rushed to the storage facility and secured the skis. While looking for the skis, the police opened carry-on luggage; boxes and a dorm room refrigerator. Inside of the carry-on luggage, the police found several bags of illegal substances. The police arrested Mr. Carson's son and charged both Mr. Carson and the son with possession.
