Pegram, R. L., Clarke, C. L., Peltier, J. W., & Parboteeah, K. P. (2022). The impact of trust on social and financial capital acquisition: A resource integration perspective in minority-owned entrepreneurial organizations.
Pegram et al . studied the financial and social capital for firm success. Resource integration is a critical requisite for the success of an entrepreneur as the literature shows the crucial gaps for minority entrepreneurs. The study results were that minority entrepreneurs are disadvantaged leading to poorer firm performance compared to their Caucasian counterparts. Closing this performance gap is based on the overall economic benefits of the community. This study is important to my study because it provides some reasoning as to why many minority-operated businesses fail quicker than their counterparts.
