Take a rubber band. Hold it just to the point where it lays flat (as opposed to stretched out). Pluck it. Now cut a piece from it (big enough so you can still hold it). Stretch the smaller piece and pluck it. Compare the sounds. How do they sound different? What happened to frequency when length increased?
