The executive team in your organization has released a new corporate vision that will impact the current corporate structure. Some departments will be merging together and other departments will now report to different Directors. The change is in repsonse to industry trends and the executive team is really excited about how these new changes will help the organization stay competitive. The announcement was made yesterday, with actual department changes starting in the next four to six months, with the complete corporate restructure planned to be completed in the next year. The executive team is looking to the HR department to support the change. Over the coming year, managers and employees may come to you in HR with complaints and challenges and are looking for you to provide solutions to help them in this challenging time."
- Identify 3 challenges that the management team and /or employees might face when working at this organization over the next year.
- For each challenge provide a possible solution - your solution must be supported by a change management or transition management model.
- A format you might consider following would be to use subheadings "Challenge or Complaint" and provide a few paragraphs to describe the challenge that either a manager or an employee might come to HR with. Then use a second subheading "Solution" and provide roughly half-page suggesting a possible solution and referencing one of the change or transition management models.
- Be as specific as possible. For example, if one of the complaints is "help - my team is gossiping and complaining all day long about the change and I don't know what to do!" flush this out more and add context in the complaint section of your paper about why this might be. Are they in the neutral zone and everything is uncertain? Do they not have a clear understanding of the Vision? Are they in resistance because they haven't had enough communication? What exactly is the challenge that is being presented? Then, when offering a solution you can be specific and tailor it to the complaint.
