The highest grossing film of 1895 was Back to the Future, starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Llyod. It is now a highly acclaimed cult favorite (and my favorite!) though the script was rejected a staggering 40 times before Universal bought it. The success of the first film led to the highly anticipated release of BTTF Part II in 1989. Below are the amounts grossed per day in millions during the first 7 days of each movie’s release.
