The main purpose of the Hala Madrid group case is to try to answer the questions using the financial concepts covered in the different sessions of the economic module, and to build the budget for 2004 under the different scenarios suggested. Before the midnight of the 8th of September (Friday) each group will have to upload to canvas the final document. The written document done by each group must include the answer to the questions shown below. Note: It is very important to be aware that all your answer should be prepared as if you were in 2004 so you can not include information that happened later in your answers. Part 1.- Questions to be answered and presented: 1. How would you define the financial situation when Florentino Perez and his board arrived at Real Madrid? 2. Why do you think Real Madrid reached that situation? 3. Explain, from a financial point of view, the big changes introduced by Florentino Perez and its board in the way the team was managed? 4. Why do you think next year's Budget is so important? 5. How does the fact of having to make it public in a press conference affect the Budget? 6. Which are the sources of uncertainty that the Real Madrid faces when elaborating its yearly Budget? How do you think they could be managed to try to reduce their impact on the Budget? 7. Real Madrid is a non-profit organization. How does that affect Real Madrid from a financial perspective? If you are a member of Real Madrid, how are you affected? 8. Which is your opinion about the accelerated depreciation system of the sporting rights of the players, used by Real Madrid? Do you agree with the system? How does it affect the balance sheet of the Real Madrid?
