According to information published at the time by the local police, two of the victims were assassinated in their houses, while two teachers were murdered in the Dene Building of the La Loche Community School (Johnson, 2016). In circumstances where several stakeholders are impacted by a particular crisis, the Communication Action Team must ensure that it revises its crisis management policy, taking into account the consequences of its mismanagement and response to the emergency. In this manner, nonprofit organizations deal with two types of crises, depending on their mission: emergencies and controversies. As a result of this, establishing a well-informed strategic communications plan framework has been shown to be the most effective way to offer communications that can have a positive impact on the many people and organizations involved in the scenario.
In this reflective paper assignment, the focus is on crisis communication, specifically in the aftermath of the shootings that occurred in La Loche in 2016.
