Total dollars planned for minimum buy: $96,000 Once you determine how much you have already spent, decide where you want to spend the remaining OTB without going over your budgeted $80,000. Current OTB (budgeted dollars - spent): *Use the cost of one all, mid, and top door style that you calculated to determine how many additional styles you can afford without exceeding your budget. Styles for All Door: Styles for Mid Door: Styles for Top Door: Total Styles to Buy: How many total styles should you take notes on in market for this vendor? Now, using the Snapshot tool in the PDF of the Vendor B line sheet, copy and paste images from the Von Maur Exercise: Assortment Planning (30 pts) You are a Buyer for a fast turning department. You are leaving for market next week and are currently preparing for your vendor appointments. During this trip you will be viewing Fall product. In order to make the most of your time at each appointment, you plan your assortment prior to leaving. Based on your open-to-buy, minimum all door units and average price point for each vendor, you determine how many styles you can afford. You have already planned Vendor A. Now use the following information to plan your assortment for Vendor B. Assortment Planning Vendor A Example: Based on the planned amount for the month along with the minimum all door units and average price point for Vendor A the below information has been determined for an all door buy. OTB is $30,000. " 300 units for an all store buy. Average price point is $50.00. This means that one all door style will cost $15,000. (300 x $50-$15,000) This means that you will be able to buy 2 all door styles for that month. ($15,000 x 2 = $30,000) Assortment Planning Vendor B: Use the following information in order to plan an assortment for Vendor B. Your OTB for Vendor B is $80,000. The average price point for Vendor B is $40. Approximately how many styles will you be able to buy knowing that you will need to buy at least 4 all door, at least 2 mid door, and at least 2 top door styles? (An all store style will take 300 units, mid store style 150 units, and top store style 75 units.) *First find the cost of one style for an all, mid, and top door buy. This will help you when calculating the total spent for the required minimum buy for each door. (units x average price point= 1 all, mid, or top door style) " Cost of 1 All Door style: 300 * 40 = $12,000 Cost of 1 Mid Door style:150*40= 6,000 " Cost of 1 Top Door style: 75*40-3,000 Use units x average price point x # of styles to determine how much your 4 all door, 2 mid door and 2 top door styles will cost you. Dollars planned for 4 All Door styles: $12,000 * 4 = $48,000_ Dollars planned for 2 Mid Door styles: 12,000*2=24,000 Dollars planned for 2 Top Door styles: 12,000*2=24,000 Total dollars planned for minimum buy: $96,000 Once you determine how much you have already spent, decide where you want to spend the remaining OTB without going over your budgeted $80,000. Current OTB (budgeted dollars - spent): *Use the cost of one all, mid, and top door style that you calculated to determine how many additional styles you can afford without exceeding your budget.
