Using Google Scholar, find a paper (paper means serious, peer-reviewed scientific work. It does not mean web page, blog post, New York Times article, etc.) that describes work using data mining applied to your cognate area. Upload that paper with your homework solution or link to it if it's a webpage (but make sure the webpage you reference includes an actual scholarly work. Blogs most likely don't count, and Wikipedia certainly doesn't.). Make sure it's a paper you can make some attempt at understanding, so avoid ones that are too mathematical or too technical. For the paper you end up with, 1. Describe the data mining task(s) it employs - exploratory, predictive, etc. 2. Describe the dataset it uses. What are the features? Which features are nominal and which are numeric? 3. What methods are used? Classification, clustering, association rules, etc. 4. Can you tell if they follow the data mining process? If so, how. If not, why do you think they don't follow it. Present your summary of the work you find answering the 4 questions above, and also briefly describe their goals and what they accomplish with data mining. You should put all of this in a 1 page minimum Word document (10 pt font, 1 inch margins) and upload with the copy of the paper you find.
