Walmart was the organization involved in the article I chose. Specifically a Walmart store located in Iowa
Question:
Walmart was the organization involved in the article I chose. Specifically a Walmart store located in Iowa who violated the Equal Employment Opportunity Act. Walmart refused to promote one of their employees due to sex stereotypes. This is in clear violation of the act as it is discriminative which makes it illegal for employers to discriminate against employees based on sex. This lawsuit was settled and Walamrt was ordered to pay $60,000 to the employee as well as provide proper training courses to their managers on discrimination in a workplace. The organization could have avoided this problem by not being discriminative and prior educating their managers on what discrimination is. HR could have provided resources for managers to have to ensure they were educated on the different acts that protect employees. HR also had to approve the declination of promotion. If they were unsure of the right way to handle this situation, they could have communicated with other sources in the company.
Such as other branches who would have been able to assist with the proper steps needed?
