Imagine you are writing your summary for your boss who could not attend this TEDx talk, but who wishes to develop a strong overview of the ideas presented to possibly incorporate some of them in your workplace. Follow the Points: 1. Paraphrase all of your main points. Do not directly quote, unless there is no possible way you could paraphrase (such as when a term is coined by the speaker) or unless the quote is very compelling. 2. Do not list information or points. Summaries need complete sentences and paragraphs. 3. Use multiple paragraphs. Your summary should not be one giant paragraph. 4. Incorporate important information about your source (the talk's speaker and title) in the first sentence of your summary to best orient your reader. After, use the presenter's surname. Then, in a footnote, include all source information. 5. Be objective in your summary. Do not use personal pronouns like I, you, we, our, etc., and do not add your own opinion or judgement. 6. Watch that you stay within the word length to avoid a length penalty.
