We are working towards an actual importation into Canada (simulation) The work that you will be doing involves creativity and attention to detail.
1. Create a company in Canada (you are now the importer/buyer): Name, address etc...
2. Create a business number (do some research, find out how many numbers you need and create one)
3. For each of the 2 countries that you were assigned, create a simulated transaction for a sale to occur to your business created (in step 1 and 2).
Choose one product of their top exports (avoid using energy, this is not ideal for a first-time importation)
4. For each country and their exported item, create a commercial invoice/sales invoice (CI) that is issued by your seller (remember, simulation).
You will need 2 separate commercial invoices for your 2 countries Your commercial invoice (sales invoice) should include the details of your transaction (find a template online or make your own).
You can use some information from Canada Commercial Invoice (ci1) (posted in Week 9 Content) which is the template issued by Canada Customs for importation document procedure. Basic information include in your Commercial Invoice should include: buyer, seller, transaction date, INCOTERM 2020, country of origin, description of goods, # of pieces, weight, order number. #3 and #4 involves lots of information that is needed to create/generate.
5. Attempt to find and suggest your 10-digit classification number for each scenario's product. Notes: Ensure the goods you want to import are permitted in Canada Determine if your goods that you want to import are subject to any permits or restrictions. Determine if you will hire a licensed customs broker to work on your behalf ($$) answer this question on the basics of above information
