We had a basic overview of access controls in this unit, both authentication (who are you?) and authorization (what are you allowed to do?).
Linux has a built-in authentication and authorization mechanism, but there are others available that can enabled and added to Linux. Why is it important that Linux contains tools and packages that allow it to work well in a Windows Active Directory environment?
It seems like Linux has many mature packages to offer network services, which are used extensively. Why do you suppose Microsoft Active Directory has emerged as the defacto standard in network operating systems, while Linux is relegated to many other tasks?
