We have learned what corrections is, along with the important role it plays in the overall criminal justice system from the historical aspect to present. Over time, just like other areas of the criminal justice system, the correctional system has grown exponentially. The pretrial process is part of the correctional process in terms of the sentencing component. Additionally, sentencing models have changed over time thus allowing for more pre-trial investigations to take place prior to sentencing to determine if prison or program is suitable.
