"Hey guys. My name is Carlos Tellechea, Project Manager Director at Gimex. We're a freight forwarding company based in Spain, with also presence in the United States. Actually, in Indian Harbour Beach right across campus at Florida Tech. My father founded the company in 1977, but we go back to the 1900s where my grandfather created the world of logistics business that we follow today. You could say logistics runs in our blood. When I was 15 years old, I left my home country, Spain, to go to the United States, where I finished high school, and then I enrolled at Florida Tech to pursue my career in business. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration and after many years living in the United States, I decided to come back home to keep on my father's legacy and help my siblings. Due to COVID-19, there's been a big disruption in the supply chain as demand is much higher than supply, and it sure reflects on prices. Organization and flexibility were key as we had to restructure all our ways of working. Workers had to be working from home and even a small task became very complicated. Also, managing transport was very difficult as the world stopped for a second, but everything is still needed to be shipped. We faced many challenges throughout the pandemic. Getting the space on vessels was almost impossible, and it could take up to several months. Containers were 10 times its price before the pandemic and still are. But you know what? Just be transparent to your clients. Keep informing them at all times and do what you do best, which is ship. There's not really a new norm. We work as we always have, but being more transparent and more flexible with implicated managers for each client so they can have that information at all times in case they need it. In my ways of working, there's a bit of a change because right now I'm not doing as much freight as I was before. Now I'm a bit beyond that and I'm also controlling all the aspects of the company. Whatever it may be, HR, sales, marketing, accounting. My perfect future job would be being more in control of all the aspects of the company, rather than just focusing on one specific task. My recommendation for you would need to be open-minded, be flexible, do not wish to rush things, everything will come at time. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty because, the more you learn at the bottom, the better you're going to manage at the top. My father always used to tell me when I was little, to command you first must know how to obey, and I live by that saying."

What suggestions can you share to help a manager improve how they perform their job in the new norm?
