While at a car wash, Steve, a customer of the car wash is unsatisfied with the results of the automated car wash. Steve drives his car around to the entrance of the car wash again and demands that his vehicle receive a second free car wash because he doesn't think the wash is good enough. George, the car wash attendant, refuses to give Steve another free car wash.

The argument over the car wash escalates into a shouting match, wherein George pulls out a knife and threatens to kill Steve and invites him to step out of his car and "man up." Steve pulls out a pistol from his glove box, fires three shots into George and kills George.

Steve is arrested and charged with first degree murder.

Can Steve assert self-defense to the charge of murder? Why or why not?
