Why are process models typically used in system design? Process models are typically used in system design because usually the business will have its own development process for designing software that they will build on to, add changes/fix errors over time. By doing this, the team can then establish a process on how the development is conducted. During the process development the team can work on developing data, architecture and interface for the system. As a result they are able to grasp the process they have set out to accomplish within the time frame that is set. Which of the guidelines for drawing DFDs (completeness, consistency, timing considerations, and iteration) do you think is the most important for creating a good process model? Why? I think completeness is the most important guideline for creating a good process model because it means that all the important and necessary elements of the DFD have been accounted for and fully described. Without the necessary important elements you are off to a bad start. This will create issues later in the project that may not be easily fixed. Having to make these changes could cause turmoil within the relationship of the team and the client. Imagine that somebody creates a process model illustrating "Student Completion of CS 255." One process might be for the student to "Complete Project One". How would you decompose this process? To complete project one I would first make sure to review the business requirements document, this will help to make sure everyone is on the same page. Then I would want to complete the business requirements document making sure to focus on system components and design, assumptions and limitations, functional and non-functional requirements. From here we can create a Gantt Chart. Once the chart is done and the business requirements document is fully completed we can move to the model application short paper. The model application short paper can be completed with the help of the Gantt Chart and the business requirements document. The short paper should focus on the process and object models.
