You have been engaged by ACME Ltd, to upgrade their computers and their operating systems.  They have 3 computers that were purchased in 2010.

RAM: Type DDR3,

Storage: Hard Drive Storage capacity 160 GB RPM 7200, 

PC Expansion Slots PCI Express x16, PCI Express x1, PCI, 

Wired Terminals / Ports: VGA, Line In, USB 2.0, Microphone Jack, RJ45, PS/2 Keyboard, PS/2 Mouse, Headphone Jack, Line out and the operating system that they are using is Microsoft Windows 7

 

Task:  Your task is to connect, configure and upgrade at least one computer and its two related components which can be 

• Hard drive
• Printer 
• Or any component of your choice.

 Once you have done the above, the selected two components needed to be installed on at least three PCs. 

 They also want to upgrade the operating system to Microsoft Windows 10.

Tasks and Questions

1.   Identify the devices and hardware components that require installation. 

• Document the devices that require installation and configuration.
• Document the peripheral components that require installation and configuration.
• Document the operating system to be used.
• Define suitability of device types and their installation and configuration requirements.

 2.   Plan and configure device components will include:

• Develop and document installation and configuration plan, with prioritized task and contingency arrangements, according to installation and configuration requirements.
• Obtain approval for plan from required personnel.
• Install and configure components according to plan, installation procedures and technical specifications.
• Develop a test plan and document at least one unexpected contingency.
• Test components.
• Document results.

 3.   Evaluate modified system

• Evaluate device connectivity according to vendor and technical specifications.
• Seek user feedback and update any identified performance issues.
• Confirm device changes with client and required personnel.
• Document finalized process and outcomes and submit to required personnel.
