Your analysis should find the most important risk factors for HSV-2 infection from the cross-sectional baseline survey.
Question:
Your analysis should find the most important risk factors for HSV-2 infection from the cross-sectional baseline survey. The most important exposures to consider are those relating to sexual practices (number of partners, any transactional sex, any casual sex and correct condom use at last sex) as well as having experienced more than one episode of intimate partner violence, as this has been shown to increase risk of HIV acquisition. Note that any previous pregnancy in this population of young women can be taken as a marker of ever having had unprotected sex.
The study stratum and age should be regarded as confounders. Part of the analysis should be to determine the best way of including the continuous explanatory variables age and number of partners in the model.
You may include the other variables in your model if you find them useful.
