In 2010 the U.S. Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping measured the deepest known point of the Earth’s oceans in the Mariana Trench. It was 10 994 m (36 070 ft) deep, more than a mile taller than Mt. Everest. Compute the gauge pressure at that depth assuming the density of seawater is constant.
