The Consumer Expenditure Survey measures how consumers allocate their spending. A recent survey asked respondents to specify the amount of their budget spent on food, housing, transportation, healthcare, and insurance and pensions. Also recorded were the composition of the consumer unit. These are summarized in the table below. Use a pie chart to allow a comparison of the three consumer units.
