Question:

Windmill Long Term Care is a regional corporation serving the Midwest, “the Great Plains” region of the U.S. They are known for their top-notch consulting in which they provide industry-specific expert advice for the following service lines:

*Product development

*Succession planning

*Merger and acquisitions services

*Provider support

*Financial services Windmill LTC has held a market presence for over 35 years with corporate headquarters located in Dallas, Texas and regional offices located in Wichita, Kansas and Pierre, South Dakota. It has a total workforce of 240 employees along with a board of directors. The long-established Financial Services department, which has always been one of the largest and most successful areas, has been experiencing significant discontent among its employees. The department proudly held the well-earned reputation within the organization of being the “Magic Team” by getting projects done on time, within the required scope and expectations, and at a remarkably high quality. The employees feel that the cohesiveness, camaraderie, and synergy of the existing department disappeared when the organization hired new graduates and restructured the departmental hierarchy and team structures. The department is also adjusting to a shift in reporting structure as a handful of executive team members retired and three additional team members are midway through their phased-retirement agreement with Windmill LTC. Additionally, for the first time in the organization’s history, an internship program was established, bringing the opportunity for high school students and college students to volunteer at Windmill LTC to gain experience in a growing industry. Each department is expected to accept a minimum of two student volunteers each year.Taking into consideration the differing areas of expertise and the typical hiccups experienced when working in a group (or team), the Financial Services department must figure out how to work well together and bring back the magic. Create a proposal to be submitted to organizational executives with your recommendations for creating the optimal team, utilizing the information provided in Chapters 3, 12, and 13. Use the following guidelines in preparing your proposal:
1. The team must include a minimum of five and a maximum of eight people. The team must include a cross-section of age groups and at least one student volunteer.
2. Provide your recommendations regarding the composition of the team including:
i. Number of team members ii. Gender of each team member iii. Age of each team member iv. Experience level and/or job title of each team member 3. To which generation does each team member belong?
4. Describe the workplace characteristics for each team member, utilizing the information in Chapter 3, particularly Table 3–1.
5. Provide details of the motivational preferences for each team member.
6. Employers do not have the power to force a person to act.
However, employers can work to provide various types of incentives and rewards in an effort to influence employees and encourage improved employee performance and increased employee morale. The ultimate goal is to provide support to each team in working together to help the organization achieve its goals. To accomplish this, include a Team Motivation and Engagement Plan. The plan will describe your recommendations for helping the team to reach organizational goals by keeping the team motivated and engaged. Justify your recommendations.
7. The proposal must be submitted in a business proposal format.
