In 2002, Fehrs met and began living with her boyfriend, Murrietta. They also lived with her teenage son from a former marriage, Jae. Fehrs bought a housing Alot at 464 Second Street and another at 117 Terrill Loop, both in the city of Mullan, Idaho. Fehrs and Murrietta contracted with Peter Axtman to build them a house at 464 Second Street. As construction began, problems arose. Soon Murrietta and Fehrs broke up, and Axtman filed a lawsuit against Fehrs for what he was owed for his services. Two months after the suit was filed, Fehrs transferred her property at 117 Terrill Loop to her son Jae in exchange for $1. Fehrs said she made the transfer because Jae was always drinking and partying with friends at 117 Terrill Loop and she did not want to be liable if anything should happen. Two months later Fehrs filed for bankruptcy.
