Question:
Simulate the Manna model on a square lattice. The model is defined in the following way, see [276, 354]. Each site can contain zero or one particle. New particles are added to randomly chosen sites. If the site is empty, the added particle remains at the site. If the site was already occupied, an avalanche is triggered consisting of redistributing both particles to randomly chosen neighbour sites. This redistribution of particles is repeated by parallel updates until all sites again contain either zero or one particle. When this happens the avalanche is considered to have stopped and a new particle is added to a random site. Numerically determine the distribution of avalanche sizes, durations and time between avalanches.
