Tourette’s syndrome is an inheritable, child hood onset neurological disorder involving multiple motor tics and at least one vocal tic. A U.S. study that was published in the June 5, 2009, CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report indicated that the syndrome occurs in 3 out of every 1000 school-age children. Further analysis broke the data into household income categories with respect to the federal poverty level—see the chart below. At the 0.05 level of significance, does this sample indicate that having Tourette’s is independent of household income?
