Yasmin is unhappy with the type of shoes currently available on the market for the active recreational life she leads. Out of frustration, she designs a running shoe for women that better distributes women’s weight and is more compatible with the way women move. Yasmin decides to patent the design. When she shows the design to Julie, Julie says Yasmin will not be able to patent the idea because it is not novel in that it only takes advantage of the natural way that most women move.
