You are the regional (northeastern US) HR manager of an expanding restaurant chain called "All Men Must Eat" which is based around a well-known fantasy television show. The restaurant is heavily meat-based, serving a variety of types and cuts of meat delivered by servers directly to diners on swords. Local craft ales, ciders, and wines are the key attraction at the bar but although quality and variety of food and drink are major components of the customer experience, this is rounded out by staff with a customer facing role really embracing the spirit of the restaurant and 'living the fantasy'. Part of the experience involves servers and other front of house staff taking part in role-plays and re-enactments for the diners' entertainment. You are responsible for overseeing the staffing of four new restaurants in your geographic area. One of the unique aspects of your chain is that it is structured around sectioned areas where servers, along with regular duties, must inhabit the 'character' of their section (often based on a particular 'house' or family from the show). This makes the recruitment and selection of servers a little different to the standard restaurant chain.
1- Job Description and Job Specification. You are charged with the task of writing a job description and job specification for servers in the four new restaurants opening soon. Create a job description and job specification including all the relevant TDRs and KSAOs.
2- Recruitment Detail the three most effective methods for recruiting servers for your four new restaurants houses and outline your reasons for choosing each of these methods.
3- Selection, use the job description and job specification you have created to design a selection process for applicants for the server position. Given that you cannot oversee every aspect of the process yourself you will need to clearly outline the process from start to finish so that those overseeing it understand what is expected and how each stage of the selection process will work.
