A recent study compared the use of percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) with medical therapy in the treatment of single-vessel coronary-artery disease. A total of 105 patients were randomly assigned to PTCA and 107 to medical therapy. Over a period of 6 months, MI occurred in 5 patients in Data set available the PTCA group and 3 patients in the medical-therapy group.
