A credit card company is trying to determine whether people who own different types of credit cards typically carry different balances, on average. A random sample of people with Visa, Mastercard, and American Express cards is selected. Cardholders are enticed into revealing the balance on their most recent monthly statements with a contest that would allow them to win the amount of their most recent credit card bill.
