My friend is working with in a team of software developers who are working on an up gradation for a major car manufacturing company's sales and distribution software. since it is a big organization and working for multinational company the organization put the new recruits to train from this project and since the new employee have no prior experience leading to very less idea about the project and servers, one of the newly recruited admin, had little knowledge on server thought to shut it down before he was done for the day like his personal computer, without having the idea that the server belongs to both the client and organization, Since it is multinational company all their resource planning was depended on that server, even it was few minutes the server was shut down it made a large impact on their Resource planning system, because of the mistake made by newly recruited member the client and organization are highly impacted, the organization lost its reputation from the client because the client was depended on organization to run their application without any interruptions, due to this interruption that is mainly an organization fault to allow an newly recruited member to work on a server that clients running their business on.
Due to this impact all the data regarding their sales orders, invoices, financial transactions are lost due to the lack in backup actions before shutting down the server, even though there is partial recovery of data, there is lot of man hours spent to control the situation not only by the organization but also from client side to get back the lost sales orders or financial transactions that are created that day. And it had impact not only on sales and distribution but to the client's total ERP system, since the organization is upgrading the ERP system, the developers working on the upgradation project had to re-program the changes done on that particular day.
Focus on the situation further to identify specific problem areas in business situation that may lead to a current technology solution within the parameters of the organization.
Address the following:
Identify clearly the underlying problem(s) and/or opportunity(ies)
Identify the impacts of this situation on the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization, which prevents it to achieve its goals and objective
Come up with at least 3 alternatives from the viewpoints of the information systems managers and the user managers.
Address necessary changes that must be made in the existing processes
Review potential technologies that enable the proposed solutions
Choose the most appropriate alternative and provide a rationale
Propose a recommendation and provide justification as to why it will be effective in the remediation of the situation
