One use of a transformer is for impedance matching. For example, the output impedance of a stereo amplifier is matched to the impedance of a speaker by a transformer. In Equation 31-67, the currents I1 and I2 can be related to the impedance Z in the secondary since I2 = V2/Z. Using Equations 31-65 and 31-66, show that I1 = E/[(N1/N2)2Z] and, therefore, Zeff =(N1/N2)2Z.
