The carotid artery extends from the heart to the head. Some of the body’s blood pressure receptors are located in the carotid sinus, where the carotid artery passes through the neck. If you press lightly on the carotid sinus, what do you predict should happen to your heart rate? What if you press lightly on a spot just below the carotid sinus?
