Air (c p = 1.005 kJ/kgC) is to be preheated by hot exhaust gases in a crossflow
Question:
Air (cp = 1.005 kJ/kg·°C) is to be preheated by hot exhaust gases in a crossflow heat exchanger before it enters the furnace. Air enters the heat exchanger at 95 kPa and 20°C at a rate of 1.6 m3/s. The combustion gases (cp = 1.10 kJ/kg·°C) enter at 180°C at a rate of 2.2 kg/s and leave at 95°C. Determine (a) the rate of heat transfer to the air, (b) the outlet temperature of the air, and (c) the rate of entropy generation.
