8.104 Cheese and Beer The average European has become accustomed to eating away from home, especially at fast-food restaurants. Partly as a result of this fast-food habit, the per-capita consumption of cheese (the main ingredient in pizza) and beer has risen dramatically from a decade ago. A study in Ecological Economics reports that the average European consumes 14.2 kg of cheese and drinks 83.9 litres of beer per year.
