Patients with gout also have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. A 2018 double- blind study by White et al. reported in The New England Journal of Medicine, patients with cardiovascular disease and gout were randomly assigned to receive one of two drugs: febuxostat or allopurinol. The number of patients in each group who experienced an adverse cardiovascular event was recorded and the data is shown in the table. Test the hypothesis that the proportion of patients who will experience adverse cardiovascular events differs for these two drugs. Use a 0.01 significance level.
