The equilibrium constant for the hydrolysis of dimethylamine, (CH 3 ) 2 NH(aq) + H 2 O(aq)

Question:

The equilibrium constant for the hydrolysis of dimethylamine,

(CH3)2NH(aq) + H2O(aq) → CH3NH3+ (aq) + OH(aq)

Is 5.12 × 10−4. Calculate the extent of hydrolysis for

a. A 0.210 m solution of (CH3)2NH in water using an iterative calculation until the answer is constant in the second decimal place.

b. Repeat the calculation for a solution that is also 0.500 m in NaNO3. Do you need to use an iterative calculation in this case?
