• raising the issue are you aware of how much junk food advertisements do your kids watch everyday? the amount of advertisements that go into kids’ mind is huge and the health impact that brought about is more enormous than you might have thought. o children are prime targets for food companies. they make money out of feeding kids junk food o it is actually harmful to kids’ health, harmful to the whole generation
• what is the currently situation about ads on junk food o 41% of australian children’s daily food intake is made up of discretionary foods, which is far beyond the o kids who watch tv for 2 hours everyday will see an estimated 2200 junk food advertisements in a year
• what do we ask for the govt to do o - ban ad during kids’ programme and family tv time (mon-fri 7-10am, 4-9pm, weekends and holiday 8-11am) – for both free and paid channels o bans the use of cartoon characters and celebrities to promote junk foods to children o make these as mandates, not only self-regulation
• childhood obesity epidemic o the childhood obesity epidemic is alarming and serious - one of the most serious public health issues of the 21st century. (some data)
• How advertisements are influencing kids (why we need this regulation)
• What is the govt doing right now is not enough o the Australian gov has self-regulation guidelines, but the effect is minimal

• what do we aim for: fight against childhood obesity preventative health is crucial, better than cure care for our children’s health by standing up to the marketers and broadcasters who are profiting by peddling them harmful snacks
• state the importance of the action again, ask parents to sign the petition this is a chance to stand up and help our kids should put these harmful ads to an end care for kids’ health, this is one of the best way to show your love to them signing a petition is easy but powerful some other references that can be put in:
• independent surveys in Europe, Asia, Australia and north America have also found that self-regulation codes by the food and beverage industry have made little change in the past five years to the amount of advertising seen by children.
• Disney announced in June 2012 it would ban all food and beverage products that did not meet children's nutritional standards from being advertised, sponsored or promoted on the Disney channel, Disney xd, Disney junior, radio Disney and Disney-owned online destinations intended for children 12 and under.
