Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems implementations are costly and require a lot of work in the organization. Because of the amount of work, resources and cost, a poor or failed implementation negatively impacts an organization’s performance and business goals. The purpose of this qualitative research is to identify the major risks associated with the implementation of an ERP. Also, this qualitative research will attempt to identify controls that can mitigate the risks of the ERP implementation. This research will use informal discussions with IT professionals that know or understand ERP systems to gather their experiences on risks and controls associated with the implantations of ERPs.
