Write a paper to explain Employment Discrimination. Why should age, race, gender, physical disability, and religion hinder a qualified individual from filling a vacancy of employment, or cause them to be paid less, or fired from a position, or treated differently from all? All these questions demand certain answers from the employers and lawmakers. Why do people get discrimination from the time of the interview through the time of employment? Employment discrimination exists and something more needs to be done about it.
Micro and macro enterprises are the major sources of the job creation for the new and the experienced talent. Quality of Job in much organization is too poor for the employees to do their work in it. They often face un-equal attitude from their employers and the managers. Some of the employees are blessed with high salaries and high bonuses while some of the aged and well experienced provide their services at lower ranks for many years without any promotion with minimal pay increases (Sturn, 2001).
Occupational and employment discrimination may take many forms. It happens in different types of work settings. People are treated differently because of the following attributes:
1. Race
2. Color
3. Gender
4. Religion
It is the discrimination which motivates the inequality in the organization. Regardless of their abilities employees are highly restricted to select and pursue their personal and professional aspirations. The A sense of humiliation, frustration and powerlessness take place when the skills and competencies are not allowed to be developed and work rewards, bonuses and promotion are not bestowed fairly (Torny, 2001). The examples are as follows:
1. Refusing or failing to recruit or promote applicants and employees respectively for discriminatory reasons.
2. Discharging individuals without any sound reason
3. Firing of employees because of their age as so they don’t reach the age of retirement
4. Firing talented and deserving Muslims employees just on the base of their religion
5. Pregnancy discrimination.
