A diverse range of established instruments are employed to conduct cognitive evaluations. Each item has been carefully crafted to evaluate a distinct range of neuropsychological domains, such as language proficiency, attention, executive functioning, abstract reasoning, memory, and visuospatial aptitude. The most comprehensive test currently accessible is a comprehensive neuropsychological examination, which assesses all neuropsychological domains. Presently available assessment instruments include mental status screens, which encompass a wide range of neuropsychological domains. Most clinicians will determine the presence of cognitive impairment using a recognized mental status assessment instrument, such as the Montreal Cognitive Assessment or Mini-Mental Status Exam. Mental status displays are concise, effective, and extensively studied methods that are specifically engineered to assess various cognitive domains. In conjunction with a comprehensive physical examination, accurate laboratory tests, and appropriate imaging and history gathering, a cognitive evaluation can either validate a diagnosis or determine whether additional assessment is required (Kelso, 2022).
